Hi everybody,
I tried the Dashboard on a SQL 2008 server and everything works fine. Very nice product! Now I am trying to install the database on a MSSQL 2000 server. Unfortunatly the "Create Metadata" button gives a "Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation" error message. So I tried the script provided from the "Get Script" button.
Beside some other minor problems I have a problem with the "[UserData] [varbinary](max) NULL column". Looks like datatype "varbinary(max)" does not exist in SQL 2000. What could I do ? Use any other value instead of max ?
Thank you Andreas

Hi,
Actually we did test it with SQL 2005 but we didn't test it MS SQL 2000. Can you please try binary data type for Userdata ?

Hi tansu,
to continue testing I used "varbinary(7000)" instead of "varbinary(max)". The theoretical maximum of 8000 bytes leads to a total record size > 8060 which is the maximum size for SQL 2000. First tests worked fine on SQL 2000, but the question is what does "UserData" field store ? How much size does it need ? "Binary" data type also has a limit of 8000 bytes, so I am afraid it is no solution...

Hi,
If you don't use UserData, no data is written. This field is to store simple widget settings and automatically serialized. If you don't usde this field probably there will be no problems.

Hi, thank you for the quick reply. I will continue testing and trying to understand your concepts...
